a free Pet Loss Support Program, created to provide emotional support for those who have lost or are anticipating the loss of a special pet friend.

Professional Guidance...With Care

The Pet Loss Support Group is conducted by professional group leaders knowledgeable in grief counseling. They volunteer   time to assist members of the group as they share feelings and experiences. Group members are encouraged to participate but not required. Meetings are scheduled once a   month and they usually last approximately 1 1/2 hours.

  • Individual counseling via telephone

  • Appropriate referrals to outside agencies

  • List of reference materials for reading about the human-animal bond and adjusting to pet loss

Our Goals

  • Improving the public's awareness and understanding of the depth of human-animal bonding and its benefits

  • Helping the public be more understanding and sympathetic toward individuals who are experiencing grief over the loss of an animal

  • Creating an environment in which individuals may feel free to acknowledge their feelings of loss in a non-judgmental, accepting atmosphere and know they are not alone in their grief

  • Assuring participants that all information released will be respected and kept confidential
